powerhead vs airstone

My reef tank has powerheads lol, never heard of one for buds.

Your friend is talking about flooming I assume. Using water to break the surface of the the res to add DO to the solution. I use water fall and fountain effect to add DO and have no air pumps.
 
Some one said i could be using a sub pump instead of air stones in another threat just wanted to know what he meant so i did some research and found power heads
 
that is flooming as waterdawg talked about. i would prefer venturi over straight flooming.

well it's an effect that you get by adding a small amount of air to the water stream. you can do it with any regular hydro submersible pump if you just insert a t connector that remains above the water to get air.the passing water stream creates a vacuum that sucks in the air. or you can buy venturi specific pumps
