Using general hydroponics in dwc.. Bout to switch to flower and my ppm is 180. How important is ppm???

Also I've been giving my plant 1/4 nutes so should the ppm be 1/4 of the manufacture's scale.. example if general hydo's ppm chart says 500 is good should you divide that by 4 if using 1/4 nutes??

This worked for me in DWC.It is better to under feed than overfeed.Nute strength among other factors correlates to light intensity the plant uses. When I used GH Flora 3 part.40-50% of the label strengths I used for under 200 watts of cfl's (except for seedlings or newly rooted clones of course).I eventualy went Lucas for the win.

Ppm is very important. That's the amount of dissolved materials in your water, your nutrients. 180 seems very low for flower. Also the 1/4 strength may not be exactly that of the manufacturers due to the water your starting with. Ro water will have a start of 0 where well water can have a few hundred ppms if it's hard.

Ok just started 1st night of flower tonight and changed res, ppm is now 440. This is about 1 month from seed and 20 days from veg.

I use GH also and follow the feeding chart off of their website? I start from clone though and it works prefect! GH has fixed the feeding chart, it used to be so out of wack everyone would fry their plants. I'm confused by the statement 1 month From seed and 20 days from veg. Please explain this! I also add Cal/mag with the GH line

Everyone forgot to ask what is your waters ppm! My tap is between 400-800 ppm so I use RO water and that's 2-10 ppm. If you add 400 ppm to 800 ppm water that's 1200 ppm so for start of veg you just killed the plant. Why am I the first to see this? We can't think everyone uses RO or has clean water.

Aug 19th-Sept 1st ... Started seed and put under 26 watt t5 lamp
Sept 1st- Sept 21st ... Put plant in veg chamber 18/6 under 150 hps
Sept 22nd ..... Put plant into flower 12/12 under 175 hps

Yeah I use they chart too and started at around 25% nutes.

Tap water ppm is around 145 ppm, I also let water sit out for almost 24 hours to let chlorine evaportate out.

That's true, good question! My tap ppm is 245, I still follow the chart if its a bit high I add more water to bring it to where it needs to be.

damn i have well water 150 ppm, i thought that was bad. i use a small charcoal filter and get down to 60 ppm with a new filter, older filters run about 100 ppm.
in dwc when the roots start taking off 850-1100 ppm. week5 flower up to 2100 ppm.
