Hey guys, I've been lurking on this forum for awhile and have been doing runs for a month or so now. I have a degassing chamber and a 3cfm 1stage vacuum pump that I've been working with to vac purge. Still working on my technique vac purging but tried my hand at winterizing with ever clear this past weekend and wanted some advice/critique. Very fascinated with running bho and would love to do it more professionally for patients.
Guess I'll give a run down on my technique.
After breaking down my nugs by hand (with gloves), and firmly packing my tube, I blast with ice cold Vector 14 with a 1can to 1oz ratio into a Pyrex dish that's atop a double boiler. Seeing how I only use a tube capable of holding 7-14g I unpacked and repacked as I went. I also crushed up the 1st run product and ran that again with minimal butane. I keep track my temps with an IR temp gun, staying as close to 100-115f as possible. After allowing the extract to heat purge on the Pyrex until most the reaction stops, I scrape onto an oil slick mat and place in my vac chamber. I purge at 100-115f at -29inhg until reactions stop, degas and rep urge a little longer to make sure all butane is purged.
As I stated, I tried my hand at winterizing recently with a little alteration to my normal technique. I blasted my product into a Pyrex measuring cup in a bath of water at 120f, once the liquid begins to thicken I added my 190proof everclear using an eyeballed 10:1 ratio and left on heat for 15min, swirling the cup occasionally. I then placed the Pyrex cup, after allowing to cool slightly, into a dry ice/ISO mix and allowed to chill for 4 hrs until temps were as close to 0 as I could maintain. Filtered through coffee filters into a mason jar that was seated in the dry ice slurry. Once filtered I poured my mix onto an oil slick mat over a double boiler, at 90-100f, with a fan blowing on it for about 30min. Once the product started thinning out, I placed back in my vac chamber at 100f -29inhg until all reactions had stopped and I was left with an amber shatter. I rolled that up and heat gunned it into the vial you see below. The strained filters were washed in everclear and are awaiting to be purged for any leftover I can accumulate.
Ran a full Oz, split between vac purge only, and wintering and ended up with only 2.5g total. Not content with end result amount but it's a learning process.
I'm open to all advice or tips to tweak my technique. I'd love to perfect it, thanks!
