Because they wanted the people in the system to hang themselves. Government barking about weed being redirected to the black market didn't start till the high plant count licenses started to pop up. Its much easier for the general public to accept "organized crime is abusing the system" when there are 100 200-1000 lighters gardens all over BC and the gov can prove it and the media showing barns on fire with "medical grows" on front pages.

I know of a couple people who had 400+ plant licenses given to them by a doctor in Vernon.

Plant counts mean very little without size limitations, like Oregon's mmj regs do.
You can grow one plant and produce 2 pounds, or grow 56 little plants that produce 2 pounds.

Again it is one of the reasons why now almost no dr will sign a script for more than 5grams a day.

I think HC has always known exactly what they are doing.
Doctors wont sign high scripts because of their Colleges oversight. Why didn't the Colleges show the same concern during the MMAR days?

And i agree with the rest of you in that i think everyone should be legally allowed to grow as much as they want or need.
But it is these kind of stories that paint home growers in the same greedy light as lps.

No one wants the rights for patients to legally grow their own more than me

Yep..."massive grows", mold issues, public safety,bla bla bla ...it has been a set up from day one.

Who did the calculation on how much a plant could produce? I am allowed to have 73 plants but I can tell you that will not happen ever! I just grabbed my pink sheet... the maximum plants I can have under production at any time is 73...what is considered production...I've not really given this much thought before probably because I don't care about how many...I'm limited by space. Is a plant considered in production as soon as a seed pops? Ok....let's work with that...73/3=24..so I can have 24 plants popped, vegging and flowering. I think if I could grow that much, I would only need one crop a year and probably not even that much...those plant counts should have been halved. Is there anyone here that uses all their entire plant count as big as they can get them and still stay within your g/d script? Because isn't that really what this should be about...how much you're supposed to need for your medical condition?

I just thought about cloning so I guess you could have 5 moms and 34 in veg and flower...all kinds of ways to manipulate that...but that nasty old script limit keeps popping up. I am very curious to hear from everyone on this.

And i disagree about sog being the most efficient method. Its the quickest to get buds to sell but any grower with a legit garden and a decent setup with a veg area could get a perpetual grow going that would easily produce as much or more bud without insane plant counts.

You dont get it...plant counts mean nothing .. 10 plants in flower under 1000w or 10 plants under 10,000watts, which one will yield more? They're both legal.

Its all the governments fault!
They set the system up badly from the get go and allowed greedy dgs to take advantage of their licence to print money.

There should have been a whole bunch on inspectors hired to actually go check these grows.

Consider patients that want to develop new strains...say I want to try out 5 new strains;
I want to pop 10 of each strain...so if they all pop I will have 50 plants "in production". I need to let them grow to a size where I can take say 3 clones off each, I clone each one and now I'm up to 150 before I've even sexed them....it's easy to chew up your numbers if you are searching for strains.

They should have just put in a program that would work, not one that was destined to fail....they knew what they were doing.

HC made an equation.
So regarding the clones....to stay within numbers it's very restrictive.

I'm not so sure they did know what they were doing. They're currently trying to implement a new system that's so bad it's failing before it's even fully started.

Im not arguing here btw im trying to play devils advocate.
The legal rights for me and any other "patient" were ripped right out from under us for alot of reasons but honestly every dg i know/have met were way over their plant count and had a years worth of their script every harvest so it would be ignorant to not give some of the blame to those guys that took advantage.

Theres plenty of blame to go around out of this shitshow

Well....with the new program they can say that everyone had the opportunity to be an LP, but lots of small pee ons failed....they know what they're doing

Doesn't that go to defining what production is? It's only the girls that are worth anything medicinally so I can definitely see how plant counts could get out of hand until flowering starts...then you should be flowering the best and trashing the rest.

I've had a few talks with different lawyers on this very issue.
A good lawyer will get clones disallowed, maybe even the Moms...I haven't met a lawyer that can get veg disallowed though.

HC and the cops say any plant is a plant.

Right but with fem seeds being so readily available most growers dont bother with reg/males and u certainly wouldnt bother to keep escalating your plant counts by cloning males?
The person you seem to be describing is more like a breeder than a dg or a patient. Breeders also dont flower 2/3 of their seedlings its like whatfg said u will pick out the winners and flower only those
