I just had a question about lighting while germination. Should I use a light? I have a 85 watt daylight 6500k CFL. I have seen mixed views on this so I figured that I would make a thread and hopefully someone could answer this for me? Some people say just to do it in complete darkness?:leaf: Please & Thank you for your time.:leaf:

Seeds do not need light to germinate. But they do like to be warm, but not hot. I have a little mini Humidity dome I put on top of my computer monitor for warmth with the seeds inside in a most paper towel and they germinate great.

Nothing wrong about germinating under your lights. They've done it in nature for centuries.
I just noticed that the soil was getting really dry though. even though it is only 81 degrees in the closet. Like I just prior posted if you want to sit in and watch my grow I am wide up to suggestions to make it better. I want this to be a successful first grow.

Spend a couple hundred hours reading up on people journals and such. This will help you learn what to do and what not to do. And as the person said above. Light will not hurt to germ under. Just do not get the light to close.

^^^^^ look at my post that I posted just a little while ago. I have a picture of how close the light was when it was on. It will give u a better idea of what I am talking about.

the best way i find out to get a 99% result (depend of seed too) its to get the seed on a plate.
put 2 layer of scottpaper on it, wet it,
after put your seed on it.
put a layer of scott on it wet it too.
and put the plate on a baseboard.

2 day later you got germinated seed (craked and a sprout comming out) then you can transfert it.

I have a germination kit from Nirvana to take care of the germination process but I was wondering more about if I needed to have the light on or not in the closet. I see that it doesnt really matter though from what I have been reading. Usually the light just tends to help for the heating situation. I have a mini heater within my closet it though in order to regulate the temp for when the light goes off or if I leave my house I turn down the heat.

I soak for a bit in melted snow, then paper towel/plastic bag method in front of a space heater for 24 hours, then directly into the grow medium and under the shop light. It works 95% of the time now for me.

I got a germination kit from Nirvana i order to do it "right" the first time. I think I am just becoming a little impatient. I just want them to germinate and be ok because just like every other human or person on this site you dont want to fail after paying money for seeds from Attitude. I dont really see how I would mess this up though considering that i followed all the directions.

So one of them has sign of life!!!!!!! The other one hasn't popped yet so I'm not sure if its just going to be a late bloomer or what is going on with the other one. I planted both at the same time so I would have guessed they would have came around the same time. Check my link out and I will be on my way to a healthy plant and in new pots within the next couple days
