I used to like the tv show OZ until I realized how unrealistic it was. I guess it would be kinda hard to do a prison drama if it WAS realistic though, lol.

I have a confession to make to the group....this thread is a spill over from PTSD counseling I've been receiving for my Vietnam experience. Apparently my working in the prison & trying help inmates, has something to do with all of the young lives I saw lost in Vietnam & as a combat medic, that I couldn't save.....I started a music thread a few months ago for the same reason. Thanks for sharing. There are a lot of imbeciles on this site that are either illiterate or just too lazy to read and would rather make assumptions and bash on people than ATTEMPT to have a decent discussion. I'm sorry things got derailed. You can always talk to ME, cuz I get it a little. I've got friends that have PTSD pretty badly; mine is only subthreshold PTSD, but I get a glimpse of what life can be like with it.

I've often thought that joining the military was the biggest mistake of my life. It seems to only derail enlisted members lives. So much homelessness, suicide, poverty, and as you mention... jail time. I sometimes think I would have become who I thought I'd become if I hadn't signed the dotted line. I certainly wouldn't be so self conscious.

I would have monthly sit down meeting with all of the "Set Reps" together. There were no CO's, just them & me. We would discuss prison yard issues & how we could keep them on the yard & not in the factory, where everyone looses pay. Kinda like meeting with each of the trade unions on the job...we managed to keep most of the bull shit out of the factory............P.S. when I was on the floor in a 3 man death roll over a knife, with 2 inmates, who do you think went for help?....... My leadman/Crip set rep.....he could have made it 3-on-1.....instead he ran next door & pushed a staff members alarm.....no one ever knew he did it because it crossed lines and it would look bad for him & he is a lifer.....but the staff member told me who............

I wonder what kind of world it would be if we could partake in the use of Marijuana with out persecution.
Were we could go to work and give an employer a good 8 hr day every day and not have a hang over
from booze only because it's so easy to get and sociably accepted.
I'd of preferred to smoke but I needed a release from inner turmoil so I turned to booze and soon after the
problems of being a drunk rose it's ugly head.
How different would it be for the prison systems and civilization if we could just have our weed??
