problem with freebies

Hi guys. I need a bit of help here. I received a freebie from seedsman seeds, supposedly 5 afghani no.1s, of which I decided to try out a couple. I grow in a persy grow box under a 250w HPS by the way, and I also grow in soil. Well, I germed these 2 seeds and grew them out. One had the classic indica look with the deep green broad leaves, but it turned out to be a male and I ditched it. But the other one looks completely different to the first plant. The leaves are thinner and narrower and it turned out to be a female. My problem is this. The plant is now in its 7th week of flowering and it hardly has any buds on it and no smell whatsoever!! There are some scragly looking buds on the lower parts of the plant but the tops of the plant only have a few hairs growing out and no buds as of yet. I definitely dont think this is an afghani and I will be seriously pissed off if I have been wasting all this time and electricity in growing a dud plant. Can anyone offer any advice on this?

Check to see if your flower room has a light leak and also check to see if your timer is corrrect on your hid.

Plant #2 grow like a sativa or mostly sativa at least so it was most likely a seeds mix-up, if it's the case flowering time will take much longer most sativa take at least 12 weeks or even more. Most freebee I received were garbage but you just can't discard them as one of my favorite mother plant came from a freebee

Ive been using a mixture of bat guano and molasses to feed them. But most importantly for me this plant has NO SMELL whatsoever. Ive never grown a plant that doesnt pong. Im seriously thinking of jacking it in and starting afresh, like I mentioned earlier it has been flowering for over 6 weeks now.

Some sativa strains can take up to 16 week (rare) but most 10-14 weeks and has it been flowering for 7 weeks or did u flip to 12/12 7 weeks ago? i'd lolipop that biatch as far as the lower branches go.

yeah give her time, i've grown some sticky potent bombness that didn't smell until the last 2 weeks of actual flowering (flowering isnt the day you switch from 12-12, its more of when the flowers start to show) some people like growing 12-12 from seed just because it doesnt smell until about the last two weeks of the plants life. i vote let her live and thrive bro!

when did you start counting your weeks it should be when you start seeing pistils that could be why if you started right when you switched times.

I flipped her to 12/12 approximately 44 days ago. All my grows I have always counted flowering from when I flip the light over. By rights this baby should be oozing with buds all over by now, and it doesnt really help that I dont know what strain its is. I may be wasting my time and money on a dud.

Sounds like a true sativa or sativa dominant strain. What nutrients? I have 2 indicas that are everything but ready today and 2 sativas the same age (Super Silver Haze) and their buds look like wheat heads at this stage. I know they will take far longer but worth the wait. Absolutely no odor from the Hazes while the indicas reeked at this stage.

But post clearer (no HPS on) pics to help us all.

take 7-14 days off 44 so days 30-37 days since first pistil so roughly a month and by it being sativa you have at least 1 1/2 or 2 months before harvest

How long did it take to show sex once you put it into flower? minus that by the total flower time. Sativa dom strain which is what it looks like, and force flowering could be your answer.
