Usually, nitrogen is in abundance in any soil, rather its locked out from having too wet of a root area. Flushing a plant will remove any unwanted salt build-ups that could also be locking out nutrients.
Also it should be noted that N is the easiest to leach away and be deficient in soils as well

true, but the issue doesn't appear to be a deficiency, as in the plant is doing fine, but there is no nitrogen. It appears to be having issues dispersing nutrients throughout.
