Hello,
I've decided to start my first grow and have got my grow area set (it's a 0.6x06m closet). I got a 100W Philips SON-T PLUS PIA, which has an E40 screw base. Since I wanted to get a wired socket with a switch to simply plug into the wall socket, I got one with an E27 fitting and a E27 male to E40 female adapter. I connected everything, but, to my surprise, the light bulb wouldn't turn on. I had already test the cable with an E27 it worked as expected. I thought it might have been the adapter so I tried with another and got the same problem. Now I'm sure not whether the light doesn't work or something else is wrong. I was thinking on either:
a) Finding a 100W HPS E27 lamp with a good spectrum for flowering, which is kind of hard.
b) Getting an E40 fixture, which could be a waste of money if it the light bulb turns out to be the problem.
c) Getting another E40 bulb, but first I'd like to confirm that the one I currently have is defective.
Now, if I manage to get a bulb with an E27 socket, I wouldn't be able to test the other one and get a refund because it's faulty, but I think it's the safest option of all.
Has anyone ever had a similar experience?
I'm located in Germany, if that is of importance.
Thanks for your help,
