Process of Translocating Nutrients

Hello everyone.

I had a question regarding how a plant would translocate a mobile nutrient. Does it take a nutrient from a lower fan leaf on that specific branch? Or does it tend to take it from just the lower branches in general. I feel like it would be more energy efficient if a plant needed to move something in a particular area of growth, from the same branch just from the lower fan leaves. Idk if this makes sense. My mind is super foggy and not in the good way. If someone could guide me to some good info i would appreciate it. Thanks everyone.
