if my "soil" is 70-80% promix with some roots original formula some perlite and a topping of EWC and kelp meal
Do i PH at 6.5ish or more like a soiless (promix) ph of 5.8ish?

all the roots soil thats in it was from the first pot and its been transplanted into more promix with a topping of EWC

Bro my media is pretty similar. Ive never measured my pH. If you are working with a big batch i suggest sending it in for analysis. Youll get a valid take on your mineral ratios.

that's comforting that you dont worry about PH and do good
i get what looks like cal mg issues and worried about lockout
maybe all the fungus life in promix makes it more like a soil than soiless

Its because its the mix you stated, small part soil, large part soilless. Pro mix is soilless and should be treated as such. If not you will get lockouts like you say. If you vary the range from 5.7 to 6.1 it should allow both cal and mag to be absorbed.
If you look at this chart, on the hydro part you will see the very different levels of cal and mag uptake compared to the true soil side.

If someone gets away with it that's great but if your seeing issues as you say then address them, don't close your eyes and hope for the best. Good luck

i've been giving them 6.3-6.8 PH but until yesterday the ratio of promix to roots soil was closer to 50/50
ill drop it to 5.6 to 6
it sucks that i watered yesterday with calimagic the first time at 6.3 i hope it can take it up.
