Its not til 2023 but I would start stocking up on strips and boards for any planned projects sooner than later. I predict shortages of diodes over next 2 years if this goes through!

hm interessting times, but am not sure of the shortage.
i mean, the white leds are used for ambient lightning, so we shouldnt be the biggest consumers there.
also it may lead to huge productions of quality monos, which bring their price down further when reaching the mass market.

With utility companies replacing street lights with LEDs - wouldn't there be a surplus of HPS? (and government auctions)

Requiring every hobby grower to run LED is unenforceable - they'd have to hit half the homes in my area door by door - you can see intakes in every other window! :P

Im sure the market will adapt and hopefully prices will drop and us DIY hobby growers will benefit. I also think a bunch of huge warehouses buying up all the inventory in volume will cause some shortage short term. Im guessing more with UL certified lamps like HLG Gavita Fluence etc. And im sure those companies and more will be creating more demand for the raw diodes for new lamps, so will be interesting to see. Im not saying its going to be like when GPU prices skyrocketed bc of bitcoin mining but the diodes pricing does seem to fluctuate with demand so who knows.

i think this just applies to commercial grows at the moment.
