18/6 is vegging, 12/12 is flowering, if you learn the very basics of how cannabis is grown, then you will be able to answer your own question.

For exmaple you could alternatively have asked why do some people use 18/6 for 1 months, and others use it for 2 months. It is essentially the same question as what you are asking.

Yea I do some 12/12 from seed grows and so far its been very nice. For me it speeds things up just a little but mainly should keep my plants a little smaller and all i need to have is one tent. As you can see by some of my grows that they are doing good but obviously my yield wont be as high as if I vegged like most do. If I can get 1+ OZ per plant I will be very happy as its just for personal use so yield isn't a huge deal as long as its great smoke.

Well there are great reasons why some of us grow 12-12 from seed or veg for a very short amount of time. I personally love the idea but its new to me so I am just testing it. I cant stand growing autos so this should be a great alternative.

well they flower at a certain age any way so it anit losein time and if its height your worried about train them

12/12 IS meant for flowering. Where as 18/6 gives you the veg growth you need. Only give em 4 weeks in veg though... mine got 4 feet tall in them 4 weeks with a 400 wat mH. Keeping in mind they were in milk jugs... lol.

All strains are different. Some barely stretch at all during flowering.

if you dont want to grow trees, if you want to save energy, if you want to cut down on heat, if you want to keep it simple...........2-7 oz dry per plant under a 600 hps...........a few of my 12-12 from seed girls....hope you like.

Exactly- you are basically right as it doesn't really save much time but they are smaller so height isn't an issue any longer and I can grow many different varieties as I can fit about 6 + plants in my tent now.
The other main part is I only use 1 tent, 1 light and just makes it all much easier for me and saves a ton on electricity.

No, not at all. You can 12/12 from seed and still get veg growth. It will NOT flower untill its mature. Simple. Thats like saying a week old seedling would bud. It just wont happen. Once it starts to hit alternating nodes, then it will flower. If it hasnt hit alternating nodes it will just veg untill it has. I am doing this right now but i gave my seedling 18/6 for the first two weeks. just switched to 12/12 today. But its not mature it will still veg for another 2 weeks or so before it starts flowering

So like how long does the whole process take
Like dose it do the whole stretch out for a few weeks and start budding.
Or dose it grow a bit and then just start doing its thing ?

Its sort of inbetween. You will get MILD stretch as you would normally without light because the plants stretching upwards to try find the light source. Once the plant hits maturity and is ready for flowering it will only stretch a little bit. Or mildy compared to switching from 18/6 to 12/12 persay a 8 week old plant for ex. Most 12/12 from seed plants will only get to about a foot to a foot and a half tops. Once its ready to flower it will still stay in its veg stage for about a week after maturity while "getting itself ready for flower".

How long would you say it takes to reach maturity, for you. On avarage (all things concidered. Strain and good enviorment )
