When would you all say the best time for pruning is and how much?
I have a Pure Gold under a 150watt HPS covering 2x2 feet. It is 3 weeks into flower and finally the fan leaves are starting to show some trichomes on them. Up until now I've been pruning away the new growth of fanleaves(about 6 inches deep of a canopy). I figure it lets light to the new buds that have been forming but all the old fanleaves are still there at the bottom to catch the light that leaks through.
I'm curious when people start/finish their pruning and how much. My assumption is that pruning away any leaves covering bud growth is good, while also leaving enough to catch leftover light/store nutrients in reserves for buds later(don't want the plant to start eating away at its bud leaves because it's hungry for nutrients). I also figure that by pruning up until trichomes start to form on the leaves, you aren't actually losing much THC in the end(for those of us who like making hash oil).
