Public high schools can drug test against your will?

I was reading this site made by the DEA. At first I thought it was rather amusing, unti I read this article:

http://justthinktwice.com/consequences/you_test_positive_for_drugs.html

Are they serious? I never did marijuana, alcohol or any other drug in high school. I was a four year letter in choir, cross country, wrestling and track. I would've been kicked out because I would've refused a drug test. This is a violation of parents' rights and another reason I hate public school.

How'd you get through public school without bein exposed to reefer? Shit at my school the 4H club was like a damned cartel of teenage dope growers and jazz cigarette aficionados. Even the Dungeons and Dragons nerds had separate compartments in their dice boxes just to hold their grass. Only people not dancing with the "Assassin of Youth" was the bible club and i think they were on coke..

Because my parents would've killed me. They were the bible thumping kind, "I brought you into this world, god commands me to take you out if you screw up."

Gotta read into the school thing closely: We'll get you used to drug testing if you want to do anything besides show up for class. This includes Chess Clubs, SAT/ACT prep courses, etc.

Direct quote:

"Drug testing in schools has been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2002, the Supreme Court ruled to allow suspicionless random drug tests for all middle and high school students who take part in competitive extracurricular activities."

Problem is that nobody is challenging how far the drug testing mandate spread. Key decision was based on competitive. Has since devolved in some places to include just about any extracurricular. Some places have tried to push it as a graduation requirement etc. Those school boards thankfully have lawyers near by pointing out they cant dont this.

On a side note, the ONDCP makes me ill with what they come up with. Feel like I need to spray my eyes with bleach and do some self administered shock treatments now ...

its all about consent and they simply do not have to give any and they wont have to submit to ANY testing...

they might however not be "eligible" to compete in the schools athletics program... but as far as not allowing the students to attend school (if it ever is allowed to go that far) while having to submit to a test... they could just get a better education at home... considering how shitty public education is anyways... ;)

Me, too. Believe me, if there was pot around when I was in school, I would have know about it. I grew up in a small rural community and mj didn't make it's way there until after I graduated and left. I was 19 before I smoked it the first time.
