There must have been an Irish saint somewhere in my church. One lady would always say, "Shawn Lee O' Connolly," over and over when she was speaking in tongues. I'm one of the weirdos that when I see crazy shit, I say something about it. At thirteen I told my Mamma that everyone at church was crazy, and I didn't want to associate with them anymore.
Most of my adult life I have loosely followed the Muscogee (Creek) tradition. I was raised on stories of Polly Parrot (the daughter of a local Creek Chief who refused to go west) and thought she was one of my direct ancestors. 23&me busted that bubble when it came back that I was 98 1/2% Western European, but I still find peace in traditions going so far back.
