I purchased a feminized seed of Purple Alien OG that was developed by OG genetics. The seed sprouted quite fast. It took 16 hours to germinate and I was underway with my new lil baby.
I am planning on making this seed a mother, creating clones, and cross breeding with other strains. (OG grower knowledge much needed)
I put her in my clonebox for 5 days after sprout. The heating mat mixed with good humidity got her to 1 1/2 inches in the first 5 days under 3200k CFL tubes. I waited until a good set of roots popped out from under the rockwool before I put the seed into a medium. When the time came to choose a medium for the OG, I went to my local hydro store and found some hygromite on sale. I purchased a bag for $10 and brought it back to my grow. I put the hygromite and seed in a 5.5"x6" ebb & flow pot.
**First Screw Up** I immediately put the seedling under two 100w MH and one 50w HPS light. The seed began to fold over in 2 hours and I thought I had killed it. Put the seed back in the dome for 2 days until she popped back up.
Once the seedling became stable again I put her under two 2700k 23w CFLs surrounded by mylar. I watered it for the first time, giving the seed 1/2 008 ppm water mixed with 1/2 Brita filtered tap water at 181 ppm. The mixture usually comes out to 80-95 ppm.I added superthrive to the mixture and poured in half a gallon of water. Let me tell you, the water retention of hygromite sure beats the stuffing out of my hydroton I am using on my G 13 grow. PH was between 5.4-5.6
I have foliar fed the seed 1 time with a light P-K
I am testing the waters with my watering cycle (Experienced OG grower help please) and watering the seed every 3 days. My second water cycle I experimented a bit and took 370 ppm water from my hydro tank and fed it to my plant. The water has vitagrow nutrients Part A and B in them. I was going to hart daily on what happened. The plant began to get a darker green and expand out after I gave her some nutrients.
Today is 12/28/10. I fed the seed 140 ppm water of 65% brita water and 35% drinking water yesterday. The plant is really starting to take off. The leaves are expanding daily and a second node is beginning to appear. I decided to put her under the HIDs again, but this time a bit farther back. I plan on watering the plant tomorrow.
QUESTIONS FOR YOU EXP'ED
When should I put my seed into a flood and drain hydro system?
When can she take more intense lights?
When at that node and height do I increase the PPM?
What is a good feeding schedule for OG?
What N-P-K variation suits her the best?
What plants in hydro work best together with this strain?
