Dont sweat the purple. Youl'll hear all kinds of explanations about deficiencies etc. Really no one knows exactly what causes this or how to remediate it. Folks grow cup winning bud with purple petioles and stems.

If someone sap tested clones with and with out purple it might help explain. Ive been asking about purple petioles for a few years. There is no consensus on the cause.
Favorite answer right here!! Thanks everyone, though

Hi there Testiclees,.
You've hit the nail on the head..... Don't sweat the Red.
I've had loads of red stemmed plants over the years.
This plant was vegged indoors then put outside where it has been for a while.
It has now greened up on the new stems.
But it got me thinking, could it be the light spectrum of my veg light?
Or how close the light is to the plants? 20160807_171150.jpg 20160807_171141.jpg

Anthocyanin pigments are often red, purple or blue. These pigments have been said to help a plant against light stress and act to help protect a plant from blue-green and UV light. Cacti do not have these, they have Betalain instead.
