This is my first grow and I have 2 plants that are a little purple in the veins of the leaves. I am growing Diesel Ryder (pic) and Trainwreck. Is this a problem or are they just a little young? We have them in Black Gold organic soil and the temps at night stay around 70 - 72 F and 74 - 77 F during the day. Any advice is greatly appreciated!! :weed:

Hey MJD, Welcome to the site. It seems that you may be showing signs of a Mag dificiency or possibly a N2 def. or even both. I also started mine in blackgold organic. The organic does not contain any lime so there is no source of mag or calcium in there. What water are you using. If it is R/O than you will def need to make sure that the nutes u use have mag and calcium in it. I use the Dyna Grow 7/9/5 wich has cal/mag in it. Works great with the R/O water.

You may wan't to add a 1/4 tsp of epsom salts with the next watering. Keep a close I on it because mag def. will spread quickly. If you use some nutes make sure that it is 1/8 to1/4 strength.

It may also be a strain caristic, but I don't believe that it has anything to do with the temps.

Hope this helps.

Keep em green!!!!

Appreciate the advice Big. We have FF Tiger Bloom and Grow Big for nutes. We haven't added any to the girls yet for fear of burning them... they are due for a water tonight and I think we will add some then. :leaf:

Stop what your doing now. It's too young in the plants life for mg deficiency & I wouldn't give any nutes yet, there are plenty in the soil for a plant so young! I dont know your soil & if its ok to use with such a young plant but To me it looks like a strain characteristic. It looks healthy to me if that lighter green is just the picture. If anything the pot is a little too big, for a little plant like that, you can develop drainage problems later on if your root mass is loose, i pot up to bigger pots, this helps the roots to fully develop, which equals better yields. Also this way you dont have to feed nutrients untill you are in flower , as the plant is re fed at each pot up. ;)

I agree, way too early for any nutrients, those have a while yet before you try to start pumping them with steroids. Purple stems are nothing to worry about at all.

Well we haven't added any nutes whatsoever. Just planted the girls in Black Gold Organic potting soil after they germinated. We had them in small peat pots originally, but decided to move them to the bigger pots. in their peat pots.. so if the new pots are too big, or we moved them too early, we didn't know... Nube mistake. We have 10 plants all together... 1 F Trainwreck, 1 F Cheese (both from Greenhouse Seeds) and 8 Diesel Ryders (from Joint DR). We have just been using R/O H2O... Only 2 plants look this way... Trainwreck and 1 of the Diesel Ryder... Besides the slight purple color, they all look healthy to me... The camera makes them look a little lighter then they are... here are some more pics... Thanks for all the help.. Much love! :weed:

I, like you, sow my seed's in peet pellets & they are not moved on to soil until there are roots (plural) protruding from the sacking all over the pellet. This is because they contain a decent amount of food to make this kind of growth.
Why are you using r/o water? Do you not have tap water at your disposal?
