PVC "hot" cement (the nasty smelling blue stuff) Is it safe to use on my manifold?

I've used the primer/glue combo on a wide variety of hydro applications
without seeing any negative effects from it so far.

You'll be fine with the pvc cement. The only reason it smells so strong is bc its in the container and hasnt made a bond with the pvc. you shouldnt have any problems.
