QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

in a 2x4 tent you only need ~280-300w so you could get one hlg96e and a 240h-54 and call it a day. you dont need to run it any hotter. but if you want to get a 320h-54.
same driver if you want 2 boards in parallel, hlg240h-54a, or 320h-54 for hotter

pretty much any 54v contant voltage driver will power just about any number of these boards.

they are incredibly versatile.
1 96 in a 2x4 isn’t gonna do it just because it has the watts lol. Still need coverage buddy.

I disagree

You could do that if money was an issue and it would work fine. Could add more as you can afford them.
One won’t do shit for flowering in a 2x4, just look at the maps and my 10/29/18 post on crosslighting effect.

Short answer, yes; long answer, read the thread, then i’ll answer remaining questions
i read the entire thread a couple days i ago

I originally was planning on getting 3 QB288s for a 2x4 tent until i ran across this thread/site but now i think i want the qb96s instead.Just not sure if 2 would give good coverage

Respectfully, I still disagree. I guarantee you can flower with 1 96 on a 240-54a in a 2x4 I don’t need ppfd charts or any charts to prove it. It just won’t cover the 2x4 with an even spread. But when you get more money you can add a second board without upgrading the driver to improve spread.

If you read my original post or know me at all you know I’m not advising this I’m saying it’s not a bad start at all if it’s all you can afford. I run minimum 4 points of light in all my grow spaces personally

1 in a 2x4 for flowering will suck. Besides not enuf coverage for multiple plants in a 2x4, you will either evaporate your single plant or starve it of light...that’s what the maps show...

You want to push 1 96 for flowering, try moderating the wattage/ht in a 2x2, where the walls will provide a coverage boost at reasonable ppfd.

Yeah i agree it’s not ideal for the square footage and it will have a hot spot. But at the right height It will grow good bud in any sized space.

I’m talking a budget setup not min-maxing

Hey, another option you might wish to explore is the growmau5 pucks from chilledtech. The V.2s have 4 red LEDs, 35 4000k, and the rest are 3000k I believe. 4 of those puppies will blast a 2x4 with plenty of light with enhanced spectrum goodness. 3 will also work okay I suppose

Two will be great...2 96s are better than 3 288’s...due to 96’s supplemental reds....

you want to get a boost on this? Then, add some far red; after stretch, run it full lightson plus first 5-15 mins lightsoff - the full lightson part combines the power of the 96’s red and deep red w the far red for the emerson effect, the 5-15 mins of lightsoff for the far red initiator effect (see “the far red” thread).

But you, should already know all of this, from having read the full thread...

Day 30 from seed pop - 288 vs 96 smackdown: Mothers (topped earlier at 5th true node, all stem fan leaves removed), 1/4+” diam laterals get cut in next few days:

“A” driver dimming allows for this:

That yuge blue peak makes these 96s fantastic for propagation and veg.
How far away is light to get 51.1 PPFD at 13.6 watts, and assuming just one light?

I’ll get that measured in a few...
Thank you, I was expecting a different response.

I have a request as well if you will. I'm@ 125 watts w/one light. Can you give me the ppfd @ any height you desire you want to input to get the desired readings? It's being used in veg in the tent 5sqft.
I guess what I'm asking is what height is optimal in my situation for veg. And what is that ppfd reading

Why diff? Phadubious asked a question about something not posted. I know you have been reading the thread. Pisses me off having done all the work, people can’t even read the f’king thread, for things already posted.

This is quick and dirty, cuz my test gear is stored, but should be close enuff.

@ ~125w, directly under single 96:
25” ~ 300 ppfd
22” ~ 400 ppfd
18” ~ 500 ppfd
16” ~ 600 ppfd

If you look at the single 96 maps, you can get very close to this by looking at the 120w tables at diff hts. Let me know if you want me to walk you thru it, may save you time in future.

For veg, 300-600ppfd is recommended.
