Quantum Board question

I was wondering if someone could answer a question for me. I built a Quantum light using HLG's
Quantum boards (4 x 288 3000k boards mounted on one of their Slate heat sinks. I'm driving it with a Meanwell HLG-600 driver). It works perfect and is super bright, I also installed a potentiometer so I can turn the power up and down. About a month ago I had my first harvest using the light. I was pretty stoked as the buds looked great, nice and solid. My issue was that all the buds when I trimmed them were greasy, not sticky. I would have thought the issue was the genetics if it was only one strain, but I had 3 different strains growing under it. I'm getting ready to switch to flower for another grow and I'm hesitant to flower using that light. I'd hate to think I wasted 5-600$ on a light I don't want to use. I'd welcome any input from growers with much more experience.

The smoke wasn't horrible by any means, but wasn't up to my standards. What I mean is as I was trimming the buds they weren't sticky at all. My rubber gloves were covered in a clear grease. I'm thinking the light did something to the trichomes.

I think you harvested too early.

I went to 67 days, mostly cloudy with a few amber trichomes. Whatever it was, I'm going to give it one more shot. If I have the same issue again than I'll swap the light out for a new 600w HPS. Guys thanks for the replies it's appreciated.

I have a few QB grows under my belt, and I've never experienced this. No grease, just sticky, sticky glue for miles. Did the trichomes look any different from what you're accustomed to?

I didn't notice any difference on the trichromes, but I'm glad to hear you use QB's and have no problem. It tells me I just screwed up. This last grow didn't go well, towards the end of veg my basement flooded and lost power for a couple of days. I can't imagine stressing the plants any more then they were. Now I'm convinced it was stress and a poor grower that probably caused the grease issue. Thanks

I hope this current grow turns out better. I'm transplanting this weekend from 1g to 5g pots. Next week I'll switch to flower.
Glad to hear your grow is going so well. It's been three years since I started growing and still haven't got to the point were I'm happy with the end results, I'm very picky.

It can be tough learning, most people over complicate growing you have to keep it simple , learn to read your girl

Just curious - what is it that you haven't been happy with? Potency? Flavor? Weight?

Potency is not there as well as flavor and smell. I've been growing from seed from Dynasty Genetics, Bodhi and Exotic Genetics. From what I've heard they are all great seed breeders. I just picked up a Humidifier to bump my RH up to 60%. It had been in the 30's and low 40's. I'm trying to now follow the VPD charts. One of the problems is that my expectations are threw the roof. Only top shelf smoke will make me happy. I'm starting to think this is going to be a long journey.

First run: I had 5 phenos of the same strain and one was greasy and larfy, but super potent and good smoke. The rest were normal trichs. I grow under a 600h and 2 260xls @ 3000k as well. Into my second flower cycle now, very impressed with these lights. I got the same yield as hid but with half the watts. I marked it down to the phenotype as the other 4 did not display this greasy trich thing, they were normal, and at any rate it was excellent smoke. I grow in hydro though.

Right now I'm in soil, it very well could be pheno that produced the greasey buds. It wasn't all 4 plants that were affected it was one or maybe two (that could have been the same strain).
