Quantum Board vs Old Style Viparspectra.

Why are those two lights the only options?

I'm not trying to buy a light right away I'm researching this tech. Both are on Amazon, exact same price, are intended for the same size space, and have similar ratings.
I'm not trying to search for opinions on everyone's favorite light. I figured this would be a light people commonly had tried both of. Or somebody would have the same size tent with the new TS 1000. And I have experience with Viparspectra.

And I mean it doesn't have to be the exact light if you are running a 150w QB in a 32x32 I would like to know how it does.

Or talking about the watts per sq ft. What was good with the old LED's, like 40 maybe 35 w/sqft?
They are saying the TS 1000 is only about 21W per Sq. ft.

Amost all the info I am getting is from the companies on thier Amazon posts. Mars Hydro claims the TS1000 covers 32x32" while only using 150 true watts.
I'm sure I'm not going to hit the 2.5 grams per watt they claim. Is that in dry cannabis? Idk.

I'd shoot for 35w/sq ft during flowering in that space. I have the same size tent myself, but I only veg in it, using a dimmable HLG 135w QB kit.

My 32x32 is for flower, Just big enough for me.
What lights do you use for bloom? What size space?
What watt per sq ft range would you say is good for a Quantum Board as opposed to other LEDs in general, would you say they are significantly more efficient? Or is it hype?

I flower in a 4'x4' space using four HLG QB96's run in parallel with two HLG-240H 54A drivers. You could basically do half of that in your space and it would be more than you need at over 250watts at max power.

Then you just need the driver for around $75, plus some light hangers and wire to complete the setup at around $240 all done with shipping for all parts.

It says they are dimmable. I also would choose the TS 2000 but it is too much $$. It is between the TS 1000 or the Vipar 600 right now. Just curious how they perform against each other since they claim to have the same coverage with such variances in power consumption.

One thing that never changes with LED is somebody trying to get you to buy something for way more than your budget. Lol.

The vipar is garbage the Mars is ok but far from the best basically if you go Mars you probably need 20% more watts over hlg the vipar is the same as hps

Thanks for the advice, if Viparspectra is as bad as everyone says, I'm not going to know what to do when I get a good light. I've been running Viparspectra 450 for over 2 years in my 32x32, it's rated for 24x24. I usually boost it with a 50 watt blurp when it is cool enough.

New LEDs will blow your mind if you think a vipar is doing ok

I have never run CMH, but it was my understanding they run a bit hotter than HPS, how tall should the tent be with one 315w CMH do you think?
I've been wanting to add one into my tent to add some heat in the winter to my LEDS

You won't be disappointed if you use them together. CMH and QB's together is my favorite combination. Hell ya.

those qb96's are a nice sale. Remember that doesnt come as a kit, so you would have to add an appropriate driver and wiring

Honestly I hear a lot of talk about ''quality'' as a reason to pay an extra 300 dollars. The efficiency really isn't that much of a difference now days. We're literally talking about dollars. I've had chinese lights last me years. Hell, i'm using some right now going on year 3. I'm able to max out my par and they're cobs which means I have better penetration. I'm spending 10 bucks more to run them, okay. But quality BUD is really what I'm after. To do that, you need to worry more about being able to max out it's needs.

The truth is, you can build any type of LED light you want now. It's extremely easy. There are SMD cobs that are amazing now. There is no reason to break your bank when you can get the most light you need at a much lower price. Especially when efficiency isn't really as different as it used to be and hell, spectrum has always been custom in DIY setups.

315w CMH would blow it up in that tent.

And with a remote ballast the heat will be more manageable, too.

I like plug and play, DIY sounds like work to me. Everytime I look at HLG I feel like my bank account should be going up not down.
I'm in no hurry so maybe I will just start saving for top end lighting.

I have a Vipar600 reflector series
It pulls about 280 from the wall..... I’m happy with it. It has not turned off since 2017.... still running... YES I also have several diy cob fixtures using Cxm22’s and I like them too but they don’t have the IR or other reds that the vipar has. And I also have HPS that I do not use

I was hoping the Mars Hydro TS 1000 was as good as they claim. It would be cool to go down in watts and get improvements instead of up in watts. I might still consider the TS 2000.
I actually don't need a light right now but at that price for those improvements, def would have purchased right now.
Cool to see the LED tech evolve, wish I could keep up.

Maybe as quick as 15 minutes or up to an hour, but it isn't gonna be a lot of work, and the great news is that you will learn how it goes together, which means you can fix it later if needed.

Thanks. I'm specifically either buying a TS 1000 or a Viparspectra 600 if I buy now. I don't have time for DIY either.
The thing I would really like to know is does the Mars TS1000 really have similar results as the Vipar 600 while only using 58% of the power?
That seems crazy. I can vouche for Viparspectra's claims. Is this the real deal? Or will it be larfy? Or what?

There was a comparison grow, though it was fruit not weed, between the hlg100 and the vipar spectra of much higher wattage a few years ago.

The hg100 beat it hands down with less than half the wattage I think.

Now the mars TS is not on the same level as a HLG quantum board but it is still significantly more efficient than the vipar

However 150w of mid range diodes is still under lit for 2.5x2.5ft space, but then so is the vipar spectra so if you were happy with your results with your old one you will be happy with the results with the TS.

Mars Hydro gives different info on thier website then on Amazon
It says 2x2 on the website and 2.5x2.5 on Amazon. The par charts also differ dramatically.

I think I might seriously consider HLG now.
Def looks better than the Vipar.
I still think Vipar made a good starter light and I'm not going to knock it for what it is.
