Had nothin but problems with Lumatec, so much that my hydroponics store replaced them with Quantum. They kick ass!

well... i found a problem with the quantums - i had a 600w hortilux bulb fail recently, and it took the ballast with it... the bulb and ballast are both under warranty, so we'll see how hard it will be to replace them...

I had 2 of these 600w setups... the bulb that blew doesnt look much different from "normal" - so in my troubleshooting why 1 of my lamps was not lighting, i swapped the hood connectors on the ballasts, and the fried bulb broke the remaining good ballast as well...

so now i am left with 1 bad bulb, and 2 bad ballasts... oh joy!

bottom line: if your bulb fails, so will your Quantum ballast - from my experience.

Woud somone be able to automatically set it up to dim out at lights out time? to simulate a sunrise and sunset?
its more important to reduce the intesity of the light during the last weeks of flower verse just the 15 mins before it goes dark in the grow space

1000w quantum = AWESOME.....Make sure you get a warranty for all your ballasts....I bought a used 1000w Quantum($180 Amazon) but still is running but wish I had the warranty Hope she keeps plugging along. 1 year old now and I saw it one morning on net and there was only one so what the hell and it was well worth it.

the electronic ballasts run at ultra high frequency. I believe in upwards of 15,000 htz. Which allows them to be much more efficient. I am not sure but i think that even though these are dimable you may not get any energy savings as a result. I believe the frequency changes to dim the lamps, and your wattage probably stays roughly the same. Dimable ballasts are great for other aplications I personally don't see the point. That being said it is still a sweet ballast and I am still a bit jealous. Nice pics by the way. Good luck in all you do!
15 khz that's radio frequency. Old thread I know.

What mmc you work for, we may have met.
