Question about diy cloner

So I built a diy aero cloner and it’s really awesome but is not water tight and end up with a big puddle of water on bottom of tent every day or two. Any advice on making it more water tight? I put weatherstripping on inside edge but not sure f I used the right kind. Any help would be appreciated!

I used a sprayer type cloner and had water leaking from it like you
I stopped using it then a few years later I tried the bubble stone type, great!
I don't get a drop now and the cloner works just the same.

Fwiw also tried just a submersible pump to agitate the water and it worked as well the air stone do.

Awesome man, thanks! I had a couple air stones and the 360 degree spray nozzles but wasn’t sure if the air stones by themselves would be good. I used the sprayers because my stems weren’t touching the water but I guess just adding more solution would fix that. Thanks for the info! I’m gonna be developing my own cloners eventually and the water leaking in the biggest issue

Yes, now that you mention it I do have the stem in the water 1/4 inch or so.
I don't think that's absolute important with bubble stones as the water gets thrown up in abundance.

Surprisingly just a pump moving the water worked well.

Check out power head pumps, they also pull in oxygen and they're quieter than a air pump.

The price to build one is so cheap though. I’d rather deal with a little leakage than spend $100+ on a smaller unit. I can do 32 clones at a time with the one unit and really could push it to more if I wanted to. Currently experimenting with different container sizes and companies

Yo Dirt - use weather seal - I will save you the trouble of trying all the brands out there as I did! I picked this tip up from the AeroSpring - though I think the weather seal I use is better... OK without further delay:

Use all climate Marine and Automotive EPDM rubber weatherseal. It comes in several shapes - use the ribbed type that measures 5/16" thick by 19/32" wide.

One such brand is M-D Building Products, Inc, All Climate, Marine and Automotive Weatherseal, part # 01033.

I've been meaning to post pics but have been busy. I saw your post and decided to respond sans pics as leaks are a drag!

Take your time installing it - don't stretch it as you adhere it - especially around the corners. Use one pice and join it on a diagonal cut right over the handle... If you don't make a good join and it leaks at the seam, you can fold a paper towel to sit in the recess of the Rubbermaid handle to blot the dribble... After installing the weatherseal, the top fits like a glove - you will feel a very positive "latch" as you close the lid.

Understand - with the constant on/off action of the pumps - even with the weatherseal you may see an occassional drip here and there... but the seal will dry you up for the most part!

Yeah - the Rubbermaid containers are getting really crappy - there are 2 or 3 types of plastic they are made out of... one type is more shiny and thinner feeling, while the matte finish seems to be thicker and stiffer... to make matters worse, I had to go through a dozen last night to find one without holes in the bottom! Yes holes! Those two little plastic circles set about nine inches apart in the bottom of the tubs had tiny holes in the center where the injected plastic did not fill properly or something... Beware, never by a stack without checking each one!

I bought the stripping suggested, but my roughneck 18 gallon isn't leaking at all for some reason. I'm using it as a vegger, same design as the cloner, though. For actual cloning, I use the clone king. I own 4 of them, they are awesome...
 
Just add a couple of the 4 inch bubbler air stones and bring your water level just below the net pots so that the spray and bubbles are hitting the bottom of the net pot and you'll be fine. Don't need the sprayers. Good luck.
