Question about fan leaf energy.

Might be a dumb question, but I was wondering about how the light absorbed by the leaves affects the plant. Does the energy get stored somehow? Or, if it immediately promotes growth, does it only send energy to the area around where it connects to the main stalk?

I would have to say that a fan located on the main stalk feeds most of its energy to the shoot located next to its stem. The lower leaves are the first to suffer in the event of root damage or drought as the plant will canabalize these fans in an attempt to endure. I am sure that just like us the plant can store a certain amount of energy but much less than we can.
