question about fire/electrical hazard reality

first wanna thank you guys for the wealth of information available here. I'm leaning heavy towards starting an indoor grow in the coming months and have been digesting as much info here as I can. a few things: I own my house and live alone, although I do have neighbors that live as close as thirty feet away. many of them. two story house with a spare bedroom and bath upstairs. the grow room would be in the spare bathroom upstairs, accessible only from the bedroom. traffic in and out of the house is very low. this would be a small grow for personal use. I would like to run a 400 hps for the 12/12 with the necessary fans and exhaust system. so the question I have for now is how much of a fire/electrical hazard is it? maybe I'm paranoid. I mean, if I set this up in a generally agreed safe manner should I be good to go? I've no experience with these lamps but I'm intelligent enough to ask the questions first rather than set my house on fire, lol. I've been reading lots here and it would seem that what I'd like to do is not as complicated as many are doing. have also read about keeping the electricity higher up than water could reach, which is sensible. is the equipment(lamps) reliable to not short and catch fire, assuming I purchase above average gear?

Just make sure that you have a dedicated breaker for where you want your grow room to be. Don't be trying to run all that if the outlets share a breaker with other things in your house.

A 400w hps will consume about 3.5 amps and the fan and everything else you are looking at like maybe another 5, so if you have a dedicated 20-30 amp breaker and that's all your going to be running on it you will be fine.

You don't want to usually run more than 65-75% max amperage on a single throw breaker. Just make sure you have room for spikes and such and you will be fine.

okay that makes sense. electricity scares the shit out of me, gotta be honest about it. thanks giggles for that quick response too. guess tomorrow I'll start having a look at the breaker box and see what's up.
