Question about Fox Farm feeding schedule. PLZ only plp who have used FF Reply .

I'm trying to get all my "facts" together before my next grow. First grow (still in progress) has been many up's and downs. My first mistake was not coming here for info and my second was not useing the right soil and nutes. Mirical Grow and an all perp. 20-20-20 nutes is NOT recamended, Daaaa!! I'm planning on getting FF ocean soil and the three pac FF nutes. I'm useing a 400w HPS with a 400w MH conve. bulb. My question about the FF nutes is... on the FF feeding schedule it apiers to me that thier saying to use 2tbls of BB per gal. from seedling to second week ,then 2 tsp of GB and 2 tbls of BB. in the second week, and so on.. in the 7th and 8th week thier saying to use GB-TB-BB, at the same time, Does this mean that i shoild be mixing 2tsp's of GB, 2tsp's of TG and 1tbl of BB "all together in a single gal.????? I DONT want to over Fert. and all that Fert. at any given time seems to be 'Alot" Some weeks they only call for 2 of the 3 ferts. My question again is DO I MIX the ferts together in one gal. at saqme time or give either or indavigly. I hope ive made my question clear enough to understand. Those of you who have used FF nutes will probaly understand and PLZ "NO GUESSING" , no disrespect to anyone but i;m looking for replys from plp who have used FF soil and nutes "ONLY" thanks to all who read and reply!! ps. also should i start with Full, 1/2 or 1/4 soulion and increes as weeks go on?? The more detailed you can be the better, i am new at this but realy want to learn!!

I believe they come with the chart still and if not HYDROFARM catalogs come with all feed charts for major nute brands, but answering your question: Yes you mix all three together, I would reccomend picking up a TDS meter, and a PH pen, so you can test your ferted water b4 you feed. MIX ALL IN SAME GALLON OF WATER NOT SEPERATE. It sounds like alot of Nutes because it is. Your using soil as a medium so its a drain to waste system meaning you can add more nutes than a recycling system.

Yes, it means you should mix them into a gallon of water together. You need to start with the bare gallon of water, I use reverse osmosis water so I add some Cal-Mag at this point, then I add each of the Foxfarm concentrates separately, washing out my measuring tool between each additive/nutrient. Then I add the appropriate Foxfarm soluble, the dry stuff. Shake well. Test the pH and adjust as needed. Then I feed the lovely ladies.

i gotta a question about FF too, im about to start using them and is there any reason to airate your water? is it ok for the jug of mixed ferts to sit around for like a week and continue feeding with that same jug of water I mixed up or do I need to mix a fresh batch each time i wanna water...?!

I don't think it will make any difference if you just shake the nutes so nothing is collected in the bottom of your water jug. I wouldn't let it sit longer than 2 weeks though for good measure. I know some people that use tap water will let their water jugs sit out over night before using them because some of the the chlorine will evaporate out of the water.
I have a question about FF soil, I'm doing my first indoor soil frow using FF and I went and bought "Happy Frog" dirt because I read that it was good, but now every where I read says to use the "Ocean Forest" dirt they offer. Which is better and why? I can still go back and swap it now if I find out in time. Help! :)

i have the trio solubles. i use about 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon a watering. they seem to do well. any more that 1/2 a teaspoon they seem to burn a little. ill probably bump it up to 1/2 to 2/3 teaspoon a watering.

I got a race on right now
my soil vs Fox farms
My soil is passing the two ff's by inches and the stalks are thicker!
My soil
2/3 coco 1/3 Spag (pete moss) a few cups of perlite
Then I Use my nutes because why pay for the dirt and the nutes and have to put more in? Why not buy O.S.D on sale dirt and feed accordingly
2/1 veg
1/3 flower
?????????????

Try the Happy Frog and see how it goes first. I'm not an expert on their soils, but I believe their Ocean Forest runs a bit hotter than the Happy Frog. OF is loaded with nutes and good for a month without adding anything else.

Here's my 2 cents...

Fox Farm nutes are all I use and this is what I do..

The liquids, they run hot. The Big Bloom I use 2 tablespoons per gallon, not 4. The Tiger Bloom I use 2 teaspoons per gallon, and the Grow Big I go the whole teaspoon per gallon. I use these all the way thru the grow per the FF schedule.

I usually feed every other watering. The Big Bloom works great to keep everything balanced out as well.

Now this is my first grow with the solubles and since I use the liquids, I've been sticking to the low side of the directions meaning I only use a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon.

I mix all of these in the same gallon.

We've had nothing but great success using their products and so far, I really like the solubles as well. I can tell the difference it's making. I have plenty of pictures to prove it, I'm just not sure where to post them yet! LOL

Hope this helps....

Ok then, I was actually thinking about going and picking up some OF because I have two plants of the same strain that are both going to need transplanting soon, I could do one in each and then get an idea of which i like better... I might have to start a 3rd so I can do one of each and one mixed as well..... someone else said they mix their OF and HF...

Yes, a lot do mix the two together, very true! Try your idea though, it sounds good. One in each and monitor the differences. That will tell you which one you'll prefer obviously, then maybe you may even find a good mix with them both.

Keep us updated on that!

I'd certainly be happy too! The only thing I don't like about my idea is that what if I just get a fluke plant. Without a control group to work with I could be going on a wild goose chase. What if this one little plant doesn't like the included nutes while every other one would lap them up, I'd hate to never try a trick again just because it didn't work on one plant one time. Ohh well, I'm going to try all the same, I'll have to stop at the hydro store on my lunch break tomorrow.

I hear you and certainly understand. Maybe try it with some cheaper genetics first or something.

I myself use ProMix BX which is a soiless mix. I don't use the FF soils. I add proper parts of perlite, vermiculite and lime(ph balancer). I find its easier for me to gauge when they need water or not as I go by the weight of the bucket. It's harder for me to tell with the soils because they weigh quite a bit more right from the get go.

Happ Frog is very acidic. OF is only hot for seedlings and clones. its PH balanced and is pretty good at staying balanced.
Acidity is a good thing though right? ph between 5.7 and 6.5 is what I've always read to keep it between, or close to it. I'm about to transplant 3 baby plants into a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff so the more knowledge available the better off I'll be come flowering time...

thanks my man. btw FFOF is the shit. look in my thread and see when i transplanted to the white buckets. you will see them explode. if i do another soil i wont use any other soil except OF
