Question about grow journals

I'm starting a new grow room and want to create a journal. I'm a little confused about my options though. There is a forum for grow journals, but then there is a sub-forum for the discussions of the journals. My understanding is that the grow journal threads should, basically, only be posted in by the grower. Any discussion of those threads should take place in the related thread in the sub-forum. Is this right? It doesn't seem to be the way they are being used. Then there is the Grow Journals system. How do those tie into the forums?

I've read the FAQs and searched for answers. I'm sorry if there is already an explanation somewhere. I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance for helping me understand all this. :eyesmoke:

a few people who log journals here like to keep the thread nice and clean without interruption so it is easy following. the people who log their journals this way will usually mention in their first post to not post in the said thread and will give a link to a discussion thread to discuss the grow journal there ,

the way most people do it, including myself, is to just make a grow journal and forgo making a discussion thread. have all the content and responses in one thread. it just makes for better interaction.

Thanks Dr G!

When you say "have all the content and responses in one thread", are you talking about the discussion thread or the journal?

As you saw, I made a thread too. I think part of my motivation is to also get more visibility in case I want to ask questions. I did just notice the button to make the thread post into a journal entry. I went the other direction using copy and paste. Maybe I'll try making my journal posts in the thread first, then move them to journal.

I do like the idea of an uncluttered place to view the entire journal. Maybe if I make my posts to the thread and the journal I can leave the discussions in the thread and have my "clean" journal via the journal functionality.

We will see. I'm not even fully committed to keeping the journal up to date yet :p Between this new project, my day job (that I'm slacking on to post here hehe), and a wife that wants me to spend time with her, I'm pretty busy. ;)

ya no problem. always glad to help a fellow member.

I was talking about the grow journal when I mentioned having all your content in one thread.

and ya, we also got the 'journal entries' too. I don't know of to many people that use that option though. I would use that option if I was creating the journal more for myself. like using it as a grow log I can look back on.

:D
