Question about leaf cutting

I've seen many plants with the tips of the leafs cut off, mostly clones I think, what are the leafs tipped like that and is it just infant plants or do you do it to mature plants too, i couldn't find an answer anywhere. Thanks all!

People snip some of the leaves off clones so the plant doesn't have as much matter to keep alive as its growing roots. . . plus it helps them to not be so top heavy.

Other plants might be trimmed due to damage but unless you're having canopy issues, don't mess with the leaves. They're solar panels

Yup Griz is right, you trim the tips of your clones. You want to grow roots not leaves at this point, and it also cuts down on the space and the tips from molding. The points where they touch is where they start to mold if conditions are right.

Actually I got one more question, the clones I got were pretty bad when I got them, all the leaf endings were burnt and alot of the leaves were yellow, I flushed the plants out and have been nurturing them back to health, I have been cutting off the old leaves that look like they are dying or have almost no green at all, is that ok to do? I have afy's which don't grow big and harvest at the end of August but they haven't grown much, they are bushing out but no hight and they're only about 8" high, if that, just want to make sure that taking off the dead and yellow leaves won't stunt the plants. I only do a leaf or two at a time days apart when I seen new ones have come in on the same stem. Sorry if this is common sense stuff, this is my first grow.

Bushing out isn't a bad thing man. The cardinal rule is "only cut a leaf thats over 50% dead" but it doesn't apply across the board. If you have bushy plants throwing a good canopy and a sick leaf on the bottom? That leaf isn't going to catch much sun, the plant is bushing out, I'd say you could lose the weak ones. Cutting anything is going to piss your plant off a little, I'd take everything you're going to take at once then leave it for good and see what happens.

Bushy plants are good, the tighter those internodes are the bigger harvest you're going to end up with.

If it doesnt come off with a gentle tug I leave em unless they are really bad and becoming a mold/fungus risk but during veg if you want to cut em after 50% is dead it really wont matter much.

sounds all good to me, I just let them fall off or I grasp the leaf close to the stem and gently twist the dead leaf off, they come off in your fingers or you will hear a little snap and they are off.

Peace and positive vibes

PS I always twist the leaf if it's stem is still green, pulling on it can cause a rip down the side of the plant, some breeds are more stringy than others just like a banana peel. Twisting snaps it off.

Clones are supposed to turn yellow it means there starting to sprout roots, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean are they clones that are just rooting or are they full blown plants there were taken as clones at one point in time?
