im new to this so im concerned about light getting into my water. say if i wanted to open up my control res and blow a fan over it would the ambient light create excess algae in my system? what about light coming in through the hydroton into the buckets? anything to be concerned about?

im not a hydro guy, but i think you should be fine. you just dont want light to enter your res for any extended period of time. keep it covered as much as poss. it will take some time for that to occur. as for light thru the hydroton there should not be much light at all passing thru. if you notice that alot does, than it may be a good idea to rethink your settup. but i wouldnt worry until something tells you you should. keep it simple and dont let your mind create problems you try to fix and make a non existent problem worse. goodluck
