Question about lime.

So ive seen people say that if you put lime in your soil, you really dont have to worry about ph. I find that hard to believe but im no expert. I have some Organic Epsoma Garden Lime at home wonder if it would do the trick. Cause ive bought a ph meter but wasnt worth a crap. So my plant has had burn and deficiencies. Heres the lime that i have at home http://homedepot.digby.com/homedepot/product/detail.do?itemId=203192761&categoryId=&path= is it the same as dolo lime? Thanks for any advice.

You're best off with Dolomite Lime. it's gentle and adds magnesium.

<add> No, that's not dolomite. Straight lime is calcium carbonate. Dolomite lime is a mix of calcium and magnesium carbonate.
For pH control that will work well. But you might still need to supplement magnesium. cn

Pretty sure Espoma is dolomite. I thought it was calcitic also, but the label will tell you. What is the % of calcium and mag on the analysis?

In any event, the Espoma will work fine. Add 2tbl/gallon of mix, or 1cup/cf of mix. Give it a week or 2 to start working and then forget about pH.

Simple.

One more thing do i add it just once or everytime i feed nutes?
No set answer imo. I fed whenever they showed signs of appetite. After a while i fell into a rhythm. Sorry, but there's no follow-the-nubers substitute for experience 9which you're gaining) and a fee for it (which is the payoff). The advice I DO have is feed less rather than more. It's easier to harm the plant with too much nutrient than not enough, esp. when using a good soil. cn

Eggs shells are made up almost entirely of calcium carbonate – the main ingredient in agricultural lime.

1. Save your eggs shells, and allow them to air dry.
2. Then, place the dried shells in the blender, and pulse until they are powdery-fine.
3. Sprinkle in your garden.

You will get many opinions. It becomes your unpleasant job to filter the replies and decide which make the best sense to you. The hard part ime is to keep a wrong-sounding idea in my mind, and if it works to correct a problem that comes up, to recognize that it wasn't wrong. That said, many wrong-sounding ideas ... are.
The good news is that, so long as you don't have a super finicky pheno or something hard to get right in your grow space ... Cannabis is a tough and communicative plant. cn

Yeah like people say, listen to everyone and agree but in the end pick and choose what works best for you.

ONCE!!!!!

Lime only needs to be applied once per grow, it's a soil amendment, not a nute. Apply the amount I mentioned and that's it till you recycle the soil for the next grow.

If you have powdered lime in your soil (admix before planting!), you won't need or benefit from eggshells imo. I preferred to put the eggshells on my compost pile where they decomposed and enriched the Black Gold. cn

Like CB suggested, add them to your compost pile. FWIW, I added them to my worm bin and was still finding them 3 years later, still not fully decomposed. Pure Ca for sure, but very hard to break down. I quit using them. YMMV
