question about liquid light

i'm new to using liquid light. without going into details i've been asked to use it indescrimately for a grow. out of an array of plants, one strain (gdp) started showing signs of nitrogen toxicity. the plants have been flushed, taken care of, and are improving.
its been explained to me that liquid light helps or causes the plants to take up more nutrients so logic tells me this caused the problem.
i guess my question is, is this really how liquid light works? am i right thinking if we spray the granddaddys again we'll be right back to the same problems?
