qUESTION ABOUT LST

I believe that light stress training is done to help the plant grow in a certain way to allow for better light penetration to the lower parts of the plant which leads me to believe that it is not "just for looks". Also the reason you may see many "tiny buds" is because a plant that has been fim or topped has multiple main colas which causes the buds to become smaller than a plant only putting all of its resources into one main cola. That is just what I've gathered from reading on here as I choose not to LST on my first adventure.
 
Lots of people lst and scrog so they can use T5's, CFL or low wattage hps, usually to address heat problems. To answer your question, Yes lst DOES generally increase yield in "low lummens" grows. It can also increase yield if number of plants is small.I flower 6 plants under 2 600 watt hps, with air cooled hoods, the lights are only 4 inches or so off the canopy. The lst of the plants allows the light to penetrate the entire canopy (which is only about 12 inches thick ...but the plants are 3 and a half foot circles. Trust me, my buds aren't small, and my yield is dandy.

What people don't understand about a successful LST, is that it's alot of work...you're constantly retying the growing shoots down..clearing out sucker shoots..and working the plants to achieve that total light penetration

The other thing you have to remember is that when you get the colas growing "sideways", the individual buds stand straight up. In a plant with a tall cola, the top "bud" may look huge, but it's really just a bunch of smaller ones grown together....Biog buds don't equal big yield..Having no popcorn buds equal big yield (IMHO)

Obviously he's new. Everyone has to learn some time or another. And LST is NOT just for looks. YOU'RE obviously the retarded one.
