question about mother maintaince

i've always fed my mother plants very gently. light feeding with extended periods of time in between.
i'm curious as what other people do. how much are you feeding them and how often. i want them happy and healthy but i don't want to over do. any recommendations are appreciated

imo the hardest part of growing is mother maintnance. keep them clean and neemed is my advice.
