Question about plant height and light

Will a plant stop growing a certain distance from the light source to protect itself? or will it just keep growing up into the light if you don't move the light higher? Right now I have some little seedings that are 4 days old. using 2 small floros until my grow space is ready. They got a little stretched but seem very healthy. Thanks.
