Hi HMHTW

Wow! your plants are looking so healthy! you're doing great by the looks of it. Sorry for such a late rply yes I was away in good old Amsterdam, so just recovering from the trip! (no pun intended)

With regards to the flowering under the 250W Fluro I have read that they do a good job, I have never tried flowering under a Fluro so I can't really give you any advice on that one! But as you say Babygro knows his stuff so go with his advice on that one for sure. I have only flowered under my 400w HPS. I harvested Grow#2 on friday (pics attached)
It smells so much sweeter & fruitier than my 1st grow (chemical nutes & no syrup) I reckon from what I have it will last me at least 3-4 months :) In fact I have only paid for a 8th in the last 4 months saving me at least £400!

I'm now on Grow#3 & totally organic no hydro this time. Just thought I would see the difference in maintenance & final yield/taste etc. So far growing in soil has been great, as you don't need so much attention as with hydro. Basically I bought some Houseplant compost from B&Q, Vermiculite & Perlite and just put my sprouted seedlings (that were started in rockwool) in the soil & they are doing good so far. (seeds from Gypsy Nirvana a UK seed bank/headshop) I have Northern Lights X Bigbud, Durban Poison x Skunk & Misty Blue (Blueberry) & a bagseed all on the go now. My Grow tent has been converted into a drying room for Grow 2's yield. Thanks Mum for the loan of the Clothes Horse to 'dry my clothes' on! lol

Yes the Ph issue is now my biggest issue as I have yet to read the soils ph accurately as I have no ph soil tester yet! so I am just feeding it ph 6.4 water at the mo (no nutes yet) will start the nutes in a couple of weeks I think until they use up what nutes are available in the soil...

Ok the time to Veg query is always being conflicted I know! I go by the theory that the plant will triple its size from when you start flowering (mine sure did!) We both have the space in the tents so I would give yours a bit longer as mine were still a good foot & a half from the top of my tent once I finished flowering so start flowering when they are about a foot & a half?

The syrup I read up about in Jorge Cervantes Grow Bible (from Amazon) I was going to use Maple Syrup as this is more runny, the Golden Syrup I had to dillute in warm water so it dissolved a bit rather than sink to the bottom & congeal into a gloopy hard lump!
I went for Golden Syrup when I saw the price of Maple Syrup! about £5 a bottle! & only a few mils!.. I gave it a good heaped desertspoon & poured it in the 25litre reservoil so if I was using it with the soil i'd go with Maple Syrup & use 1 teaspoon per Litre I guess to be safe.

Hope any of this rabble was useful?! Just finished a J of Grow#2 & boy has it knocked me for six!

Here are those pics m8:

Here's a DIY Carbon Scrubber if you fancy saving a few quid
Ryoko Builds a DIY Activated Carbon Filter - 30 Minutes, $30 Dollars - The Garden's Cure

Mine got really stinky after about 2 weeks flowering until I got some Ona gel & a ionizer which work great. Another good quick fix esp if you have unexpected visitors is 'Orange Mist' or 'Lemon Mist' both
work really well.

NP's HMHTW -

Curing mine now in sealy jars or whatever the proper name for them is (you know the jars that have the same mechanism as the Grolsh bottles!), got some lemon & orange peel in there this time to give them a nice aroma/flavour will let you know the results of the curing!

If you are in the uk try a company called growell, they have a system for about £2000 which takes up to 100 clones, its a very effective and impressive piece of kit, they yield incredibly high also!

Hello Ed
Again I’d just like to begin by hoping you had a really good “trip” in the Dam, and I’m sure you did.. Also again all the advice you give is spot on and it’s all really appreciated, as you know hope the curing goes well and its the real shit. Yourself and Babygrow have been instrumental in getting this newbie up and running, so give yourself a big pat on the back and roll a fat one,, you deserve it. Lol…. I already went ahead and ordered that carbon humidifier and also got some ona gel and that lemon spray, just to be on the safe side, pfffft another £ton, but whatever, way I see it..it will all pay for itself many times over with only a grow or 2 behind me.

Well what’s happened so far. Basically this, as I was trying to make room for all these plants I was trying to root out the males as quickly as I could, I had planned to start flowering on Saturday coming (I am defo only gonna start 5 maybe 6 seedling from now on due to the constraints of space) so I reckoned I had 1 male for sure which WAS male (I left this wee chap outside in the wife’s mini greenhouse with the tomatoes, and guess what after a few nights a few balls showed up so he was binned the 3rd casualty:cry:) Now I thought I had another one but this turned out to be female only after 2 nights in the cold mini green house.

So like a dribbling maniacal wreak I had her repotted into bigger pot (bucket actually), 3 of my pots are homemade from big buckets with holes drilled in. I swear I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong it but I think there are 7 girls. I have been up close with the magnifying glass but only time will tell…today is first day of flowering cycle 12/12 and all plants have had a feed with bio bloom and a little grow. Going to get some syrup for future watering. I’m gonna risk taking 1 maybe 2 clones when I see the girls for sure, I know I shouldn’t judging by what I have read but there is conflicting evidence of people who have taken clones into flowering stage and have been ok, obviously time will tell on the yields fingers crossed.

They seem really healthy at the minute even the little runt one has taken over some of the others and hope she is a SHE. The runt seems to have the most beautiful green and deep purple stems. I’ll get some snap shots off soon m8. I know I’m not out of the deep black woods yet m8 and I could be in for some problems due to the space and size of pot restraints, but am as game as ever. I will get some snapshots off as soon as I can m8 for here and the grow journal I have got going. The journal is a hand way of keeping track of what I maybe should be doing.

Anyways enough waffle for now. Thanks again Ed and all who have replied back much appreciated.

Keep toking..Peace all

Hi HMHTW

Glad the advice is paying off, I was exactly the same a few months ago but this forum has been great & has helped me out with at least 90% of what I know now, there's always someone who's clued up about any little detail!

I sure hope you have 7 girls that'd be fantastic, select a couple of good strong mothers & clone clone clone! you said about cloning whilst in flowerings stage, well yes again I have heard conflicting stories but the majority say to clone whilst in veg stage, I guess you can clone in flowering but in the very very early stages, but I'm 99% sure that clones thrive best whilst still in veg state...

Out of my 4 varities my Blue Misty is thriving the most now, due me being a impatient dumb ass & gave my seedlings a dose of 1/4 strength Biogrow when they didn't bloody need it!... :P So now 4 out of 7 have nute burn & gone all droopy when only a week ago they looked soooo healthy!! Thing is I gave the Blue Mistys the same & they are obviously a bit more hardy! so I've put my grow back by at least a week purely coz of my stoopid actions..

Also if space is a issue for a future grow consider going hydro as the plants don't need so much medium in order to grow, just a thought, but I guess if you have a 'green'house you should be ok!

Look forward to the pics! & keep up the great work!

Hello ED
Will how is u, hope your keeping fine. Well it now official. 6 beautiful Girls all healthy and at about three weeks of flowering. Now feeding at full strength of BioBiz Bloom 5mls per litre feeding every three days or so.

Took a bit of leave burn on one plant, Christ the babies are growing at about an inch or so a day and have really had to keep an eye on this, if I was using MH or HP set-up they would have been toast.

The runt of the litter (middle, back row) has now caught up on height with the tallest and has overtaken the rest… a bit spindly but looking good with nice looking budsites. 2 girls (back row left and right) I think are going to do really well and are full of white pistols with to many bud sites to mention..even at very bottom…c’mon girls,, grow for Daddy J. I reckon about a years supply of medicine fingers crossed (I only use in tiny amounts with good rolling baccy but as soon as I get my grows sorted..gonna try a vaporizer. I keep u posted. I passed on cloning as I still have 20 seeds which I’ll keep for future grows and trying my hand at cloning. I got a tiny little bit of home grown which cost me 30 quid but is worth every penny as have not had to renew my prescription for last 2 weeks, feking hate those nerve tablets as they give the jitters and shits, Doc just keeps wanting to up the dosage and send me to the pain clinic which is total bollocks and a complete waste of MY time he’s also mentioned that I should be concerned about the long term effects of cannabis but straight off the bat admitted that he new quite a few MS patients who swear by it, and that it would probably be the most effective treatment for “local Neuron/Nerve damage and epilepsy” which is what I have. So much for local GP’s The home grown is like gold dust, real drought with only crappy soap bar,, which is really REALLY complete SHITE.

That’s it, nothing much more to report except that smells have been almost eliminated with use of the carbon/air filter ona Gel and lemon spray. Looking forward to hearing back from you Ed and all who are reading, comments and suggestions most welcome.

Peace to you all

Happy toking.

Hello!

Looking real good HMHTW the word 'flourishing' springs to mind! - Doing a great job there m8, keep it up.. The end product will be worth all the research, electricity, £££'s, & heartache! I still have lots left from my 2nd grow & it blows my head off, in fact I only do one skins now as the curing has really made it super-potent!

Yes my babies have recovered from the over feeding, it took about a week for them to bounce back, I have a really lanky one, 5 really short, stout, bushy ones, & one with real f****d up genetics (leaves all odd shapes, small...just odd!)

Haven't given biobizz nutes yet they still seem to be okay with the soil will transpalnt this week & start the feeding proper. Will upload more pics soon & keep you posted!

Keep me updated on your grow!
