Question about rooting hormone....comments needed

i was very curious and i cannot find a solid answer..i have green light rooting hormone powder. my question is, is it possible or reccommended that i mix that powder in with water and spray my soil/plants with it. would that help or hurt my plant. or is it strictly made to dip branches in for cloning?? any advice would be much much appreciated thank you

Go with the directions on the stuff. I've never seen any good luck with powder, only gel, but from what I've seen with other powders (root-tone?), i believe your just suppose to use that stuff straight...

Nah the rooting hormone is IBA its an artificial auxin that only helps stimulate the hormones for root production. Plants actually take in very little nutrients from the leaves the majority are taken in from the roots. The powder works just fine for taking cuttings you don't even really need a rooting hormone it just speeds it up.

I would not spray that on your leaves. One, it would not help in the way you are expecting it to, and two, it is likely the powder is not completely water soluble to the point where it could be absorbed through the cellular walls of the leaves. The powder is a stimulate that when applied topically to the rooting area, promotes root development. Applying via foliar spray is not going to have the desired effect. Good luck!

ok great advice guys thank you very much!!! i wasnt really planning on spraying my leaves with it, i was thinking about just mixing it with some water and pouring it ontop of the soil. cdripper - ive heard the same about the gel thats why i was thinking of other ways i could use up this powder so it wasnt a waste of money. well again thanks alot guys and happy tokin :joint:
