question about seeds, feminized, etc.

I grew one plant recently in an aerogarden. It was a male and I was told to throw it away it was worthless. I was told to buy feminized.

My goal is to produce plants that after harvested will have a few seeds to begin my next grow with. Is this possible when buying feminized?

If I bought a pack of seeds with both male and female, what would I do to harvest bud with a few seeds?

ok you want reg seeds and find the best of both sex
then seed the lady or a branch but i was told the fem seeds are still not great and also that cloning from a fem plant is a no go
and speaking cloning why not just clone?

If you buy all feminized seeds all of them will turn out to be female - just bud and flowers. Without a male you wont get any seeds. I'm new to this but im in a similar position - just buys seeds? or clone? or make seeds?

From what i can make out you are best off cloning. To do this you need regular seeds not feminized. Get ten plant them all and soon as you can flower them! You will after a while see which ones are males and females. Throw the men away. Choose you best and strongest looking female, put her back under 18hrs+ light and keep her in a vegative stage for up to a year i think? Then take clones from this mother rather than making seeds.

You can make seeds but when the old girl gets pregnant the flowers/buds turn most their energy into making seeds not THC - whch is what we want!

You will want a male and a female....but in different rooms. Once the pollen pockets start to open just a bit (this is on the separated male).... I'd use an exacto knife and a small ziplock baggie. Scoop several sacks of pollen in your ziplock. Now, I would put the baggie down in another room and go wash my hands. Turn off any circulation fans in the female room. Take a small paint brush, get some pollen on it, and pick a mid-size bud to pollenate. Take your time, watch your breathing. Tada.... those buds will seed....and spare the rest of your plant. I'd leave the fans off for a couple of hours.

Jimmy... Not coned yet myself.. But Ive heard that if you try and clone a fem seed she can turn back to original sex i.e LadyBoy or Male...hmph!

If they can clone "Dolly" you should be able to clone anything.... As I understand many growers keep a mother female plant to get perfect female clones for production. Btw, male plants will produce THC, can be smoked and so on, but they will not have same lvls as a female, nor produse flowers (which is the thing we want) and also you will risk pollinating the females if close.....

NH you can clone anything but they say fem plants turn to balls on you if ya clone and stress em at all

Jimmy: I understand that it is so, but a clone should have all the caracteristics of the "mother" at the start, basically its the same plant, so maybe we should clone males, stress them as hell so they turn out females?

A seed that is not feminiced is a 50/50 chance, so I guess the odds are lower to get a female???

U can clone feminized- I do it all the time. And I have never had a hermi. This is either due to poor genetics of the plant or stress from light, temp, etc. I have never had a hermi through cloning a feminized plant or a feminized seed.

god, thank you above poster.. yes, you can clone femmed plants with no problems whatsoever.. i have grown probably five or so different strains, all from different breeders, all femmed, and have cloned them all.. i also have never had a hermie, ever.. this is how people get turned off from "new' er things.. someone will say that they have heard this or heard that, and all of which isn't true..
femmed beans are great.. like someone else has already said, you can create femed beans via several ways.. either with the cs, or another chemical, or you can just let a normal mj plant go way long in flower, and it will usually hermie on you if you wait long enough.. now if you use the pollen from the male flower that formed in the female plant, you should get femed seeds.. you can also cause a plant to hermie by any number of ways.. heat stress, light stress, etc..

It'd be an exact replicate of said Mother plant.

the easiest seems to be the paint brush deal. I grow in an aerogarden (i have two) so this would work for me. I don't want to clone because that means keeping a plant growing at all times. I'm a light smoker who just wants to grow personal. I don't want to keep something growing at all times. I had a great time growing that male in my aerogarden, learned a lot about growing... he was beautiful

Now where to buy the seeds.. and picking the strain. Looking for something that grows either short to medium height with decent yield. Nothing that grows over 3 feet. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of ordering from 420-seeds.com, something cheap like Afgan to play around with.. then something like AK 47 for future serious growing.. also been looking at the Joint Dr short growing strains..

Aerogurl.... how the ladies doing?

Seed question:
I just got some northern lights seeds from bc seed king and nirvana in. The bc seed king seeds are all large brown and stripped whereas the nirvana seeds are smaller, variant in color from brown to yellow, and have no stripes. Are these nirvana seeds garbage? Looking at the seeds, it's hard to imagine they are legit when compared to the bc seed king seeds supposedly from the same strain. I've never ordered before so anyone's take on this would be helpful.
