Question about shrinkage of buds during drying time..

I am just wondering about drying time at harvest. It's been so long since my last batch. My first couple batches didnt come out right because of poor lighting. I finally got it right. This batch is doing great. Harvest is near. Right now cola buds are about 2 1/2 inches wide. The buds shrink so much during drying process! Lets say you have a bud that is 3 inches wide by 6 inches long. Is it true during drying process that the bud shrinks down to half the size or more that it was before it was dried? Im wanting to know if there is anything to be done to help it not shrink as drastically as it does? lol temp etc?

no, not really, its the water weight leaving as the plant drys. its more than half btw, its more like 25% of the wet weight normally.
