Question about suspicion...

how do you know it's a "suspected grow house"? Did the cops come knocking on the door asking if you were growing something illegal?

Also, why worry if there is nothing illegal. Let the cops come if they want, they will not find anything if what you said is true.

And why would an extension cord mean it's a suspected grow house? I have an extension cord going to my shed to charge the battery in my electric start walk behind mower. Lots of people do things like that. This whole thread is just ridiculous.
1) they interviewed the neighbors. One of the neighbors that actually likes them came and explained that the cops interviewed him and suspect they are growing inside. It's not wild speculation and paranoia.

2) The worry is not for legal trouble. The problem is others in the neighborhood have asked them to leave the neighborhood because of this. They worked their balls off and saved the money for this house. They love this house, the neighborhood and the school district (should they ever decide to have kids). Also, they completely own this house. There's no mortgage or renting going on. It's theirs.

3) The garage has no power and they don't park their cars in there. The extension cord wasn't just ran across the ground into the garage. He tied it up on the clothesline. It was very visible and was left up there for the duration of this man's stay. We don't live in a medical legal state. They're very strict about that sort of thing here. Yes, an extension cord running to the garage for 3 months is considered suspicious to their local PD. Or it might have been suspicious to one of the neighbors that asked them to leave.

If the cops do come knocking on the door, they don't have anything to hide. They just don't want the entire neighborhood to consider them drug dealers and shun them when they aren't.

Fuck the neighbors and the cops. If the cops come knocking I would not even open the door. Make them get a warrant and kick in the door. Then when they find nothing get a lawyer and raid the PDs pension fund.

Nevermind. I'm gonna stop replying to this until someone has an answer that actually constitutes constructive.

why dont u just leave the garage door open for a couple of days so any one who want to take a look can. that proves u have nothing to hide. and for the neighbor who asked u to move, u should have taken him in the garage and whopped his ass. u move..

there are no laws against running an extension cord to your garage. The neighbours cant do shit espicially if they own the house. And if there is no illegal activity going on in the house then the cops cant do shit either.simple as that. There is no legal process to go through to have "suspicion" dropped.

the neighbor that came and told them this is probably suspicious and wanted to find something out. The police don't come and talk to neighbors about things like this, that would tip off the growers. This whole thing just seems like it's bs imo.

if you have relatives who are lawyers i would speak to them about the matter.if you have nosy neighbors theres really nothing you can do about it unless they trespass or harras you.you always have to be careful how you handle neighbors dont forget you have to live next to them.imo i would speak to a lawyer thats prob your best bet or atleast better than any advice youll get on here.i guess it will be a lesson learnd for your friends as to who they let stay at there home.im sure in the future theyll be be more carefull.good luck to you and your friends hope all works out for you.

Its the most reasonable response you have gotten so far.
"fuck the cops" is not a reasonable response. Unless the question is what's your favorite saying from NWA.
plus: getting a warrant for a suspected grow house is not a difficult task no matter where you are.

actually I was over there this weekend reorganizing it and doing a bunch of yard work. The thing was wide open for everyone to see. It's called a garage, but it's basically a tool shed. lawnmower, one sentimental motorcycle, and toolboxes everywhere.

Just because something isn't illegal, doesn't mean it's not suspicious. In our state, they see something suspicious, they spend way too much of the taxpayer money on pursuing it.

The neighbor is a friend and a pretty cool guy. he smokes (with the homeowners on occasion) and he's been all through the house. He helped them rewire a few rooms and completely replace the ducting.

Now this is the most reasonable response. I've been trying to avoid talking to my family as I don't want to stir any suspicion amongst them about what I'm planning on doing.
and yes. Lesson definitely learned. They don't plan on having roommates ever again. unless babies count as roommates but that's not for awhile. I expect everything to be fine, they're just annoyed that everyone thinks they're a crackhouse now.
