Question about Switchable Ballast

400 Watt Electronic Switchable Ballast Hydroponic Grow Lamp System with Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium HPS Light Bulbs, Cord + Hanger, GYO2002

I bought this for my small grow tent. I am starting to flower so I switched to the HPS. Is anyone familiar with a switchable ballast? I am new to this. The HPS does not seem as bright, though it does mess with my eyes more.

Do I have to do anything to the Ballast or is the HPS supposed to be sort of yellowish? Sorry for the noob questions. I am learning as I go.

You should be fine as long as you flipped the switch on the ballast. The hps is in a different spectrum so the light is going to be more red to simulate the harvest sun in later summer. Also I wouldn't advise starring at hid lights probably going to cause some eye damage.

Yeah I did not stare at it, just meant after looking into the tent in general. I looked all over and did not see a switch anywhere. The description on amazon did say this though:

giving the grower the flexibility to choose the best selection simply by changing the bulb, instead of having to own two separate light systems.

Not sure if that means no switch.
