Question on ventilation for small grow tent

Hello boys and girls! I'm reaching the start of my first grow(finally!). I'm using Subs Supersoil in a 2x2x5 growlab tent. Cfls will be my light of choice for this endevour. During the next few days I plan on constructing a DIY carbon filter along with my fans. This is were I'm a bit stumped. I plan on having a small fan inside the tent blowing on my babies and a exhaust fan uptop blowing out, into the carbon filter(correct me if 'm wrong on the suck blow thing). So I have a roughly 3 inch hole for my fan exhaust. I have been looking over different methods of constructing filters but my biggest problem is deciding what type of fan is best for this situation. I have no experience with this...any help would be mucho beneficial!

Do a search on 'RVK FANS'..... These are very well made and quiet.

Goodluck

Monkeyfloss- Thank you for the input sir. After a little searching I found a 4" rvk fan. Got a exact measurement on the hole and its exactly 4" as well. Sounds good to me..Will I be able to secure it right to the hole or will some sort of ducting tube be needed? I would imagine not then again I'm having trouble picturing it with a carbon filter attached? Thanks!

yes you will be best off with some ducting, to attach your filter also for the other end of the fan so you can direct where the air blows out, and if you use acoustic ducting it will make the fan much more quite.

RVK fans are the nuts. Good engineering and suberbly balanced turbines. good start.

Available, possible on the same site will be 'spigots', 'collars', 'ducting', 'reducers', and everything you can conceive of to attach said fan to whatever. Spend your time looking at whats available.
Consider buying a kit , or at least have a look at the kits available so you know how 'they' do it. Check this link. http://www.growell.co.uk/growell-complete-extraction-filtration-kits.html

Monkeyfloss- Thanks again mate! What about the tall boy fan and filter combos? The pricing is about equal to the fan alone and the carbon filter parts. In either scenario im unsure of how to use the ducting once the fan and filter are in place..if im just venting out of the tent into my closet do i actually need ducting? Assuming I make a good seal with the fan to the tent material? It has drawstring in the hole but maybe Tape as well?

not really but some fans and filter dont fit together without ducting, also the air being blown out will be loud without something to muffle it, if this is in your bedroom it could start to get on your nerves when sleeping.
also most people have the carbon filter inside the tent so your fan will be sucking threw it,
