I wouldn't use pesticides on the plants until I had a problem. But doing preventative measures is a good practice. For now though, why not stick with a neem oil solution?
Perhaps an organic pesticide recipe? You don't really need to use chemical pesticides until there's an issue, but if your going to, basically the rule is to NOT use pesticides that are systemic, but neem is systemic, so go figure. I'm not sure whether daconil is systemic.
some say that they are safe for food and vegetables, but none of these pesticides are tested for combustion and inhalation, that's why you should wait and be careful if your gonna use chemicals.
