I have 2 strains... confidential cheese and mr nice 13. I have one g13 in soil the other in a dwc bucket.... same with the cheese... one in dwc ther in soil... the soil plants are both doing far better, however, the dwc seedling root have finally made it to the water... should i expect them to start catching up to the soil grows?

Not only should you expect the dwc plants to catch up to the soil plants you should expect them to quickly bypass growth rates in soil,as long as ph is good, water temps are 55 to 70 degrees, water is highly oxygenated & nutes are within acceptable ppm range for small plants your dwc plants will EXPLODE in growth,up to 12 inches in a single day.

If every condition is near perfect most forms of hydroponics can achive growth rates of up to a foot in a day,its way faster than soil.

My strain of sour deisel in soil takes 10.5 weeks to finish, the same strain in flood n drain takes 7.5 weeks to finish, thats a full 3 weeks faster.

Just be extremely aware of all conditions with the dwc, especially water temps, hydro plants will grow in warmer temp water but nowhere near as fast as colder temp water, same goes for low oxygen water, keep temps down and give em as many air stones as ya can & the competion between grow types is over, the dwc will smash the soil in growth rate.

Sour diesel that finishes in 8 weeks?
a full three weeks faster!

you are blowing my mind!

I hate to ask this because I feel nervous myself to post pictures. But would you mind posting some of your sour in the flood and drain system.

Hey bud dont hesitate to ask questions of myself or any other hydroponic moderator,we want to help & thats why we accepted the job.

I wish i could post pics from this machine but i dont know how,my son hasnt showed me yet & an ipad might as well be rocket science compared to a windows pc im used to,one of these days i will learn how to post pics but ya gotta remember im an old fart n were in no hurry for shit like that .

How long do you think sour d is supposed to take to finish ?

With all due respect, Im not sure what you have is pure sour d. Its ballsy of me to say considering that I never grew the bitch. I am basing my information from reservoirs seeds forum over at icmag. Hes the biggest breeder of the strain and I have never seen anyone report an 8 week flowering time. Dont know what else to say, he has the original and he takes it to 70 days plus. It certainly is possible you have an indica leaning pheno. There is a famous Super Silver Haze that finishes at 8 weeks, that pheno most likely is northern light dominant.

I am not calling you a liar or anything. Look, pass the strain over to me and I will judge it for myself. I have seen lots of sours to be able to give you a good perspective :eyesmoke:

I was killing my poor plants with hydro, it is just too picky, and I could never seem to get it right, You can get super growth if you can get everything in that DWC super perfect, at which I super sucked...also the thing all these hydro is the way to go people don't tell you is that while there is the chance of super awesome growth it is also much easier to harm a DWC plant through small normal errors...like if you get the pH a little off in soil, no biggie---in hydro it is the biggest problem...and trying to keep the water cool with the lights, aww man....I could never get it right as I said before and all my hydro plants were just pitiful when compared with soil, not because the DWC is inferior, but because I am I guess.

This is what keeps me from giving hydro a try. I'm afraid I would just fuck it all up. I think I might do a test run with some veggies in a dwc to see if I even have the ability to not destroy the plant.

Funny, I've never tried a dirt grow. I'm a little afraid I would fuck it up, or bring pests into the garden.

for those wanting to dabble into the world of hydro, without going full bore you have some good single plant options.
You could try a single waterfarm, or top water in rockwool cube, or make a hempy bucket.

Is there a way to do a 5 gallon bucket soil grow without bringing bugs into my clean grow room? can a good soil grow be as easy as buying the right bag of dirt?

Drain to waste coco with a good nute regimen is fool proof.
Actually, drain to waste is fairly simple.

I am going to attempt my first recirculating system modeled after panheads grow style.

Haha,my products are allways the 1st to sell out at the co-op where the meds are available, patients attest to quality with their wallets,i stopped comparing my work with other growers results a long time ago,ive been at this long enough to have learned enough to trust my own proven methods, not whats going on elsewhere.

When it gets to the point where growers are pitting my work against what they read & interpert as hard nailed fact at other forums is when i pull out, taking info from one grower & pitting it against another grower just confuses the shit out of everything,i wont argue my methods against other growers styles.

I can only show people how i do things, nothing more.

I knew this would not go well.

I am not disputing your methods, in fact! I am modeling my next grow from what I have learned from you.

I am however doubting the true genetics of your Sour strain based on the information you have given me as I compare it to what is generally accepted as fact on that strain. I am very confident it is a grade A Top Shelf strain. My very worthless opinion is you have a chemdog dominant hybrid.

Sorry this went wayward.

Yeah I must say this is my first hydro and im nervous all the time the ph was not hard but it took a couple times to get used to change from up to down and so fourth. I feel like its going to be well worth it though still a lil to early to tell. It for sure takes up some time as well.

Hey panhead, not to be too far off topic, but you can't post pictures on this web site with an iPad. I really hope you could bring that up with the developers of this website! The problem seems to be the uploading page where you need to click, hold, and scroll through the options. Since an iPad is a touch screen, I can't get there!
