Question

I have a soil meter that detects the wetness of the soil do i water when it gets to 0 or when it gets to around the 1 or 2 and do I have water it all the way to 10?

The idea of that meter sounds really good. I bought one myself but it’s mostly trash. Sometimes I know it’s fully watered and it won’t give a correct reading. I wouldn’t trust it. Keep a log of your waterings. What days and how much, etc. keep a consistent schedule. And make a habit of lifting that pot to get an idea on the weight of it when it’s fully watered. The finger method is kind of iffy as well. Just my experience. Good luck.

I use soil currently.

Soil has to have a wet/dry cycle.
I started with regular potting and switched to fabric pots.

I recommend 3gal fabric pots. Once you start its just every other day that you have to water.

With a water meter which I uses as well once it goes 1 bar below the red its fine to water. 2 bars below the red I begin to see drooping which mean under watered.

I just do a fast test. Let them dry to the point of droop. I suggest checking them every half hour on the day you do this.

Once the hit droop point put the meter in the soil and see where it says you are. Now you know what point is underwatered and can guage off that meter to water right before that point.
