hey i wanna know how long this process usually takes, anyone ever done it?

i posted this in harvesting section but not many people view that.

i've had a bud in with 6-7 silica packs overnight and it seems to have done nothing.

lol your joking right? Please tell me your joking. If your wanting to quick dry using Silica-Gel your going to need a mass of it.

If your silica gel packs were exposed to open air before you put them in with your bud they've probably absorbed all the moisture they can. You can bake the packs in the oven, 100 degrees fahrenheit or lower, for a couple hours to reactivate them. Silica gel can only hold 40% of it's weight in water, so you'd need about an equal amount of desiccant to the wet weight of your bud.

ha yeah they are prolly shot then. thanks for the info. growfaqs didn't say much about this way but i had access to silica packets at work so i grabbed some. didn't know they went bad like that.

just need this to get me thru the harvest and curing process that i'm starting next week.

guess i'll just air dry it for the day then dry it over a light again... seemed to work ok last time.

Rather than gel packs, use desiccant. Its cheap and you can buy it at hardware and boat stores. It is used to dry damp rooms like basements and closets before painting as well as keeping lockers on ships dry.

Its probably not really worth it though. It may dry a little quicker but the smoke will suck. Best to dry it slowly over several weeks. If you really don't care and just want that shit dry, put it in the microwave. Or do it like in Weeds, in the clothes dryer, lol!

no clue on the tidy cats kitty litter.

i am only quick drying one bud to last me until my whole crop is harvested which i am hang drying for a week or whenever the stems snap then cure+burping in glass jars for a week then curing for a week in glass jars.
