quick question 4" rockwool in dwc

im been growing for a while, i recently switch to the dark-side(hydro). i have a question, can i use a 4" rockwool in dwc with out problems? how far from water level should i place the rockwool(im using hydroton to hold in it place)? will it cause problems if the rockwool touches the water? i have no option to use smaller cubes cuz i got plants in 4" cubes and i cant remove it. please help. i need to transplant them to dwc ASAP. thank you.:eyesmoke:
 
to be more clear, will the 4" rockwool absorb enough water to drown my girls? my dwc buckets(2 buckets) have alot of oxygen(70 Lpm air pump for 2 buckets)...
 
It will be tricky to keep the rockwool the correct wetness in dwc. Consider doing a round of ebb and flow, maybe.

Rockwool can only hold a limted amount of water after it reaches its max amount that it can hold the excess waterr drains off. So really theres no need to ''try keep the rockwool the correct wetness''

I wouldnt reccomend using rockwool cubes as large as yours in a DWC system,its true that rockwool can only hold a set amount of water but thats after its waterlogged, a 4" cube might make it pretty tough for young plants to develope without getting water logged & drowning or even stem rot .

I hate rockwool & have never been able to understand why anybody uses it when there are much better alternatives that dont have the same learning curve.

I do mainly Flood & Drain so Hopefully some die hard DWC guys will chime in.

netpot>>>rockwool cube/jiffy pot(whatever you want to use)>>>>hyrdoton pebble surrounding rc/jp. It shouldnt move. Topfeed til you have a sufficent enough amount of roots hitting the water(takes a week or so) The water level, have it just under a inch off the bottom of the netpot and you'll be laughin.

Right On. Once youre roots are in the water the rockwool rally isn't doing anything. Just make sure it doesn't get moldy n shit. Top feed til roots are growing out of the pot. Good Luck.
