Okay so i dont know if this is stupid or not but. Kk try and follow this. Basically am growing in a basement thats not near a plug. So what i am doing is plugging an extension cable from the plug but it only goes some of the way, that i am plugging another extension cable into that then to where im growing the light will plug straight into that via a timer. However i just want to verify is that the right place to use the timer yes where the light is plugged in. I dont know if this sounds stupid but you guys im sure will know what im tlaking about. :peace:

Where the timer is doesn't matter one single bit, it can be anywhere along the electric path but the problem I see is you could have a fire hazard. When you plug one extension cord into another their electrical resistance doubles and their combined capacity to carry a certain amount of power is halved. A cord rated for 10 amps now can only safely handle 5.

You'll know if there's a potential problem if either of the cords gets warm anwhere after hours of the lights being on.

You're ok if you aren't running big lights, but just don't overload your circuit.
