Quick question about lighting

Okay, so I'm a first timer getting all my equipment together I was thinking about just using 4 4 ft. fluorescent cool white light bulbs with a 5000K and 91 CRI rating...would this be enough for two plants or should i get a couple cfls for that 2700K rating for vegging as well?

2700k isn't really used for vegging. 6500k cfl should be used. Cool white is also good but for seedlings , not sure about long term.

Not really but yeah it will grow a plant. Just not big and fast but oh yeah it will grow.6500k for veg 2700 for bloom

I think I'm gonna change up my gameplan and maybe go with 2 4 ft fluoro tubes and and about 8 cfls for 2 plants, I'm thinking that should be enough with the right temp of light as well...thanks for the help kruzty; any further advice is appreciated as well.

Go with the two shop lights and 4 florescent tubes. They will grow fine in that and the canopy of all your plants will be fairly even. I veg under that and in 4 weeks, they are easily 10-14" and bushy. No stretching at all. Use the 6500K Daylight bulbs. You could always add a few cfl’s for side lighting between the shop lights if you wanted to too.

That is cheap and nice too. However, I picked up my fixtures from Wal-Mart for 8 bucks when they were clearing them out. They are not fancy like but those are hard wired. I prefer if they just have a plug so it is easier to put a timer on them. In addition, something else I noticed, those are T12's which are not as good at T-8's and T-5 HO's being the best but for the price, T-8's do just fine.

Guess I'll be doing some shopping for lights in the next few days, got any suggestions on where to start for fixtures? They seem pretty expensive online

Anywhere that sells shop lights. They are not very expensive however they might not have a nice polished oak finish like the ones in your pic.
